This way to Mount Everest well actually not any more.
The Base camp at Everest after 70 years is moving as the site is now ‘unsafe’ because of global warming.
Tara Nath Adhikari, director of Nepal's Department of Tourism, said activity and carbon emissions were accelerating the melting of the ice.
The base camp is currently located at the base of of the Khumbu Ice Fall, but the plan is to move it 400 meters lower down the valley due to the risk of the melting glacier. This would protect the environment and also the climbers who camp at the base of the mountain for the summit attempts
Everest base camp has been in the same spot for 70 years it is one of the most iconic places where thousands of trekkers every year descend to as the climax of the Everest Base Camp or EBC walk through the Khumbu valley.
The region their is particular sensitive to climate change because of it unique location and weather.
