Teahouse Food

A trekker should never ever trek with an empty stomach. Food is our main source of energy. Without food, a climber won't be able to survive the high endurance demands of climbing. A trekker won't be able to reach the next teahouse. When you hike in Nepal, food won’t be a problem. Your stomach has a lot of options. Nepalese cuisine is rich and diverse. They have strong flavors that fit the cold climate. In fact, if you come to their cities, such as Pokhara and Kathandu, restaurants, teahouses, and other food stores are everywhere. You won't get tired of walking looking for a place to eat. People in Nepal eat dhido, a millet or barley cooked dough, potato curry, momo from buffalo, chicken, or vegetables, yak, goat, or sheep meat. Dhido is the national dish of Nepal, and it means "lentil, steamed rice, and seasonal vegetable curry."

Nepali food is always good to pack with you while trekking. But if you are in the middle of trekking and you run out of food, there is nothing to worry about because tea houses are always there to save the day. Their menu is always long, so sometimes it's hard to choose what to order. For breakfast, they usually serve tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice. They also do eggs any style, and they offer ham, bacon, and sausage, toast with butter, jam, or honey. They also do hash brown potatoes and pancakes or crepes. You can also find hotel accommodation that offers this food. Usually, they have a buffet breakfast where you can get more than this.

What's great about their meals is that they're prepared just when you request them. The food comes straight off the pan and is perfect for their frigid weather. A hot, tasty meal relieves pain and restores vitality after a long, exhausting, freezing hike. If you choose to hike in Nepal, their food will be your best buddy. Imagine eating the tastiest meal while admiring the most beautiful vista you've ever seen.

Trivia.

Dhal bhat is a traditional meal from Nepal. It consists of steamed rice and a cooked lentil or other pulse stew called dal. It is a staple food. Bhat or Chawal means "boiled rice".
